Come to Lawrence October 7-8 to join the Lawrence Bicycle Club and hundreds of other cyclists for the 48th Octoginta. A Midwest fall classic, the 2017 Octoginta promises to be another wonderful end-of-season ride. The Lawrence Bicycle Club goes the extra mile to give you great SAGs and support that combine with gorgeous fall foliage for a ride you’ll never forget.

Online registration is closed, but you can register on-site on Saturday (8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.) or Sunday beginning at 7 a.m..  See details below.

Saturday, September 30

Back after a one-year hiatus, the Octoginta time trial returns!  Hosted by Women’s Free State Racing, the 10K race will be held on old K-10 just east of Lawrence.  Pre-registration is available at USA Cycling and is open until Thursday, Sept. 28.  Race-day registration available from 7-8 a.m. for an additional $5.  USAC license required for all riders.  For more information, see the Women’s Free State Racing website.  First racers begin at 8:30 a.m.

Saturday, October 7

8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Pre-registration
Come down to the South Park gazebo, 1198 Massachusetts St., to register and pick up your packets. Beat the Sunday morning rush and register on Saturday!
9:30 a.m. Tour de County 
Enjoy this 30-mile round-trip ride through pastoral Douglas County. Return for brunch in downtown Lawrence. The ride departs from South Park at 11th and Massachusetts Street, with a SAG at the halfway point. Ride day registration begins at 8:30am. Fee: $5.  
2-4 p.m. SWAP Meet
Looking for something? Want to get rid of something, but don’t want to throw it away? Come enjoy the festivities at South Park at 11th and Massachusetts Street.


Sunday, October 8

7 a.m. – Ride-day Registration

8:30 a.m. – Ride Start

The mass start is at 8:30 a.m. at South Park at 11th and Massachusetts Street.  Please be registered and checked in before this time.

Another beautiful route has been chosen for this year’s 80-mile tour through northeast Kansas. In addition to the 80-mile ride, there will be a shorter route, around 45 miles. Links to route maps will be posted on the ride website one week before the ride.

Continuing their longtime support for Octoginta, Cycle Works will once again be providing exceptional mechanical assistance at the ride start and on the route.

Sunflower Bike Shop’s SAG has become famous for its breakfast fare of French toast, eggs and extras sure to fuel up the hungriest cyclist.

The Lawrence Bicycle Club will be serving the traditional minestrone soup and sandwich lunch.  Lunch will be served at South Park.

Bad Weather

All events are subject to postponement or cancellation. There are no refunds because of bad weather. All announcements will be made on Sunday at South Park, on our Facebook page and via Twitter, and at lawrencebicycleclub.org.


Don’t forget to order the 2017 edition classic cotton T-shirt with the Octoginta logo printed on the chest. Make this shirt a valuable addition to your wardrobe. Available online through early registration.  May be available on ride day while supplies last.  Cost: $20 each.


Lawrence photographer Mike Yoder will be taking photos that will be available to riders at no cost. He won’t be catching every single rider but will produce a comprehensive photographic exhibit of the ride.
