Taco Ride

Ride depart time is 6:00PM from South Park (1141 Massachusetts Lawrence, KS  66044) Please plan to arrive 15-20 minutes prior to the start time.

Weekly Rides are for club members only. A non-member may participate in one free ride before joining and must prior to the ride, sign a "non-member one ride waiver" found in the drop down options once clicking New Member Signup on the home page.

PLEASE NOTE: Ride leaders have the discretion to update start times/cancel ride to account for temperature/weather conditions. These updates are sent out via the LBC Chainrings forum. Members are automatically opted in to have posts forwarded to their email. If you have unsubscribed from having posts sent to you, you can log into your LBC account to check forum posts.

This ride is for current LBC members. Please make sure your membership is up to date.If you bring a nonmember friend, please arrive early for waiver signing.

Based on attendance, there will be A(18+ MPH) and B(16-18 MPH) pace group options. Ride includes water and short rest break(s) as needed.

We will generally ride together as one group up to Lady Lama Hill (corner of 1900 Rd and 1000 Rd). A and B pace groups can form after that.

*The ride will have a B pace group only when numbers support it, otherwise, the ride will be one group with the A pace of 19+ mph.

*The A pace is a drop ride and average speeds may be higher than 20mph on any given ride.

*The minimum required pace to maintain in the B group, should it form, is 17mph and this will be the no drop pace group. Please note, average speeds can be faster than 17mph on any given ride.

Riders should be confident in maintaining the minimum average paces as stated. Riders should have pace line knowledge, pace line basic skills, and should be confident riding in a pace line as the Taco Ride is well known for this fashion of cycling. More info on pace lines can be found on our website.  Paceline Tips

Revised 2023 Taco Route link

 Requirements:
-Helmet
-LBC signed wavier (done automatically with online membership completion)
-mechanically sound bicycle (NOTE: for the Taco Ride, road or gravel bikes with drop bars are better suited for the faster pace)
-rear red daytime light (this is HIGHLY encouraged and much preferred for safety for all).
-please carry identification and emergency contact information.

Rules:
NO RACING- LBC rides are not race rides as the club does not carry insurance for racing. Aggressive and dangerous riding is prohibited.
We encourage fitness building and pacing for improvement to push your fellow cyclists, but acts of aggression putting anyone at risk on the highway is prohibited for the safety of all. For example, attacking/surging from the back of the pace line to the front causing riders to be 3-4 or more across the road breaking up a double pace line inhibiting cars from passing safely. Another example is any time a rider crosses the left hand yellow line to pass. Please keep the pace line as far to the right hand side of the road as safely possible.

If you join the ride late/mid ride or leave the ride early/race off the front to not be seen, you are no longer officially part of the ride and all insurance coverage is voided.
